01

Inclusive approach

Little Leaps is committed to providing an inclusive, accessible and supportive environment for children with SEND. Every child should feel valued, respected and supported in all aspects of their care and learning.

SEND may include physical, sensory, cognitive, emotional, communication or social needs that require additional resources, strategies or interventions. The team challenges discrimination and barriers so the environment remains welcoming and inclusive.

02

Early support and individual plans

The team works proactively with parents and carers to identify SEND needs as early as possible. Observations, discussions and formal assessments may be used to understand a child's strengths, challenges and support needs.

Personalised support plans may include specific developmental goals, adaptations to routines, resources and activities, and details of any external support services involved in the child's care. Plans are reviewed regularly so support can be adjusted as the child develops.

03

Working with families and professionals

Little Leaps works with parents so support is consistent between home and nursery. Where needed, the team may liaise with speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, specialist SEND advisors, educational psychologists, local authorities and other professionals.

Activities, learning experiences and the environment can be adapted through sensory-friendly materials, quiet areas, emotional-regulation spaces, visual schedules, communication aids and reasonable physical adjustments where appropriate.
